“Nutrition can make a Great Athlete Good, or a Good Athlete Great.”
To take athletics to the next level, Champion Schools will now incorporate Nutrition into our athletic department. It has been proven by the American Dietetic Association that healthy eating not only allows a student to perform sports at a higher level, but also allows for better concentration in the classroom, better test grades, and creates an overall healthy lifestyle.
We have many great things planned for your child this year. These include incorporating a multivitamin, providing post-workout reduced- fat chocolate milk, revamping the school lunch program, and more. These changes will not only allow your child to compete at a higher level, it will also help your child thrive in the classroom.
We encourage you to not only allow your child to make these healthy changes at school, but also follow these healthy steps at home:
Hydration
To stay fully hydrated, each individual should consume at least 0.5-1.0 ounce/pound of body weight of plain water each day.
Sleep
Getting the proper amount of sleep is just as vital to health as nutrition and exercise. Each student should strive to get 8-12 hours of sleep each night.
Calorie Intake
Each child has a unique amount of calories that should be consumed based on gender, height, weight, age, and activity level. These calories should be broken down into 40% Carbohydrates, 30% Protein, and 30% Fats.
Healthy Snacks
To keep your child fueled through school, fitness, and other activities, you should incorporate healthy snacks at least twice a day. Healthy snacks should consist of carbohydrates and protein.
We, at Champion Schools, are very excited to offer your child a more complete approach to athletics using highly competitive sports, elite sports training, and nutrition education.
